CenturyLink /AzTEA Innovation in Classroom Technology Integration Grant
Program Description:
Learn about ways to creatively find ways to fund the exciting student centered lessons that prove to work. An elementary teacher shares her journey with innovative lessons using technology and how she paid for it.
Grant Description:
The students had to apply what they knew about motion, force, simple machines to create a Lego WeDo robot. We collaborated with pilots from Luke Air Force Base to connect what we were doing in the classroom to the community and future careers. The biggest impact was developing the relationship with the outreach program at Luke Air Force Base. We had actual pilot come in and talk to us about how important machines and robotics were in their jobs. They even brought in flight equipment that the students & I got to try on. When we had finished with the unit we invited the pilots back to see our robots in action. It was a big treat to see these pilots on the floor with the students and their robots. This grant allowed me to do more hands on with the students. It led itself to creativity, collaboration and problem solving. As I update the kits, I save the old kits so the students can use them to make something completely orginial. It also inspired me to find more ways to use technology in my classroom and the funding to go with it.
