Aerial Javelina Observations
CenturyLink /AzTEA Innovation in Classroom Technology Integration Grant
Grant Description:
My project was the observation of javelin herds in Fountain Hills. We tracked the migration pathways, herd sizes and overall increases or decreases over a few years. Although we saw surges in Javelina population migrations from time to time going into Fountain Hills, we found that slowly the herds were migrating away from the community and that over the 2012-15 time period we have seen a drop of 25% - 40% of the herds. We are still monitoring Javelina and we are moving on to more advanced drone observation technology as well as forty foot camera observation posts.
Presenter:
Paul McElligott
Instructor of College and High school for the last 17 years. prior to that was in various positions in Fortune 500 companies in positions in research, market development and new product development. His formal training was as a PhD research chemist with some physical engineering and business experience.
